Please read through the following carefully before placing your order. By placing your order you are agreeing to the terms and conditions set out below. Any personal information provided by you is confidential and will not be passed on to any other companies or organisations.

Remember, that vintage items are generally between 30 and 80 years old and have previously been worn or used, so bear this in mind when purchasing. Most items will have a fair amount of wear and tear so please don't expect total perfection!  All our items are sold in ‘as described’ condition.  All items will have a varied degree of wear so refer to the item description and/or email us for more information about the item.  We do our best to provide our items in the best possible condition.  All large or obvious flaws are mentioned but we will not always mention small or hidden flaws that do not affect the wearing of the item.

Sizing

We try to measure as accurately as possible. Measurements are the fabric when laying flat. Keep in mind you will need to account for comfort in your measurements. The vintage old sizes are not the same as modern sizing. When measuring for fit, please follow these instructions to ensure your measurements will work. We measure items in their unstretched state (if it stretches) unless description says otherwise. We measure exactly not approximately so keep that in mind when measuring yourself.  Different designers have different sizes. The best way to go is to compare the measurements of a similar item you already have to the one you see on our site. 

Please keep in mind our measurements are the item's size not yours.  If the waist size says 26" you will need to be a little smaller to fit.  How much depends on you and your idea of comfort. We usually take measurements while the item is lying flat.  This is the way we measure:

Tops, Coats, and Shirts:
1. Arm length is measured from armpit to wrist hem. 
2. Bust/chest measured from underarm, across the chest to the other underarm, the measurement is doubled. 
3. Length is measured from shoulder to hem, or straight down the back not including collar. 
4. Waist is measured across where a normal waist would fall and then doubled. 
5. Back is measured from shoulder seam across to other shoulder seam.

Skirts and Dresses:
1. Dress length is measured from shoulder to hem. 
2. Bust/chest measured from underarm, across the chest to the other underarm, the measurement is doubled. 
3. Waist is measured across where an average waist falls, then doubled. 
4. Skirt length is measured from waistband to hem. 
5. Hips are measured across where an average hip falls, then doubled.

Delivery

Love is Boutique aims to deliver your purchase to you within one week of receiving your order, residents outside the UK please allow up to ten days. You will receive an email on dispatch of your order.

Within the UK: Standard postage and packaging charges within the UK are £7.50 for one item, irrespective of size or weight.  Orders of two or more items (again irrespective of size or weight) will be a total of £10 with no limit to the number of items purchased.

All orders are sent by courier ‘signed for’ delivery. You will receive an email on dispatch of your order.  If you are not home at the time of delivery you will be left a calling card by the courier with details of how to re-arrange for delivery.  Once you receive your email notification of your order dispatch please be aware of this and look out for your delivery or calling card.  Order parcels that are returned to us after three unsuccessful attempts have been made by the courier can be re-delivered, but at your own cost.  We will notify you by email regarding re-delivery of your order.  

International Items will be sent via air mail recorded delivery. You will receive an email on dispatch of your order. If you are not home at the time of delivery you will be left a calling card by the courier with details of how to re-arrange for delivery. Order parcels that are returned to us can be re-delivered but at your own cost, we will notify you by email regarding re-delivery of your order.

If International order parcels (orders shipped outside of UK) weigh considerably in excess of 5kg you will be contacted regarding payment for any extra postal charges.  

Please note that Love is Boutique cannot be held responsible for items damaged or lost once dispatched and cannot refund the cost of postage once orders are dispatched.

Payment 

The Love is Boutique online store, accepts all major debit and credit cards via Paypal.  For further details on Paypal, see their website www.paypal.com

Returns

Love Is Boutique can offer a refund on any item that you are not completely happy with. You must email us within two days of receipt of your item outlining your reasons for requesting a refund, in order to receive a returns number.  If no contact is made via email prior to you returning an item, or you return any item without a returns number, then your return will not be processed.  Once you receive your returns number, we must receive the returned item within five working days.  If we do not receive the returned item within five working days your return will not be processed.  The post office date stamp or franked date will be proof of your posting. 

If you wish to return an item for refund please be aware that:

  • The ‘Love Is Boutique’ tag must still be attached
  • All items must be unworn or unused
  • All items must be returned in the same condition they were received
  • All items must be in a saleable condition 

 

Returns will not be accepted if:

  • The ‘Love is Boutique’ tag has been removed
  • The ‘Love is Boutique’ tag has been re-attached by customers
  • Items appear to have been worn or have any odours (eg. Cooking smells, perfume, cigarette smoke etc)
  • Items are not in a saleable condition

 

Items must be returned at your own cost, we regret that Love is Boutique cannot refund the cost of postage. Once the returned goods have been received we will process your refund to the card from which the original payment was made.  

IMPORTANT: When returning items to Love is Boutique by post it is recommended that you use recorded mail as we cannot be held responsible for any loss in the post. By using a recorded mail service you should then be able to make a loss claim on the items lost and be reimbursed by the mail service provider. You will need to check the policy of the mail service provider you are using.

Once you have received your returns number please ensure that you have included it in your return parcel along with your returned item/s then post to the following address:

PLEASE NOTE: GOODS PURCHASED ONLINE CANNOT BE REFUNDED IN STORE AND GOODS PURCHASED IN STORE CANNOT BE REFUNDED ONLINE. 

The refund will be credited back onto your card within 7 days from when we receive the returned goods and you will receive a confirmation of refund email.  Please note that, depending on your bank, the refund may take a day or two to show up on your statement.

 

Caring for your Clothes the Love Is Way 

Here at Love is Boutique we want you to get the most out of your vintage clothes, so we recommend you follow our basic steps to caring for your special garments, so they can be worn for generations more:-

 

Storing Your Vintage Clothes:

  • Keep your vintage clothes in a dry, dust-free place away from direct sunlight. Humidity or damp will damage delicate fibres, and sunlight can irreversibly fade vintage prints and colours.
  • For the same reason, keep vintage clothes stored where they can breathe, not in plastic covers like the ones you get from the dry cleaners. Long term, these are not healthy for the fabric of the clothes.
  • Hang your vintage clothes on wooden hangers, or for best protection, cloth-covered padded hangers. Metal hangers can leave rust stains on your clothes and they also leave stretch marks that are very hard to get rid of.

Washing Your Vintage Clothes:

Washing clothes is a controversial subject in vintage with endless debates about the merits and dangers of washing vs. dry cleaning.  However, here are our thoughts on the matters:

  • Always hand wash pre-1960’s vintage, rather than machine washing and drying it. If you are really concerned, as the fabric is very old or delicate, consider not washing it at all: a good airing can often work just as well for removing odour without damaging the garment. 
  • To keep your precious clothes in good condition, wash them less. Repeated, vigorous washing can damage the fibres of vintage clothes. Washing (machine-washable) clothes at 30 instead of 60 degrees will also prolong their life, and is much more eco-friendly too.
  • Never wash embroidered silks or satins - ever.
  • If you want to dry clean vintage items that are durable enough for it, then use a reputable dry cleaner that you can build up a relationship of trust with. 
  • If you're unsure, you can get dry cleaner cloths for home use, in your own dryer. You can clean up to six items with one cloth.
  • With all vintage clothing and shoes, try not to wear the item two days in a row without airing it. This will give it time to breathe and will restore it for the next wear.

Maintaining Your Vintage Clothes:

  • Repair small rips and tears immediately, as they will only get bigger if you don't.
  • Old metal zippers should be carefully lubricated with zipper lube to keep them gliding smoothly through your clothing.
  • Most of all.... love your vintage clothes and respect them as you would a person of the same age!
